The Importance of Art
Workforce: noun, work·force, \ˈwərk-ˌfȯrs\; the number of workers potentially assignable for any purpose. Contrary to popular belief, the workforce contains jobs other than those in the medical, law enforcement fields, etc. Without art, who would act in your favorite shows or create the music you listen to everyday? No one. Art plays a major role in today's society, whether you notice it or not. It would be a privilege to get to work in the field of art because you are being paid to be creative.
If anything, the schools should be promoting and encouraging art, music, and theater classes. In reality, it will benefit the students more than anything else when they enter the workforce. Whoever wrote this either had a hatred for art or was completely blind to the world around them. You can look anywhere these days and find some form of art on the wall, whether it be a painting, a poster for a new concert or show, or an image perfectly captured by a talented photographer. Saying art is useless is like saying oxygen is not important for life. Period.
